What a wonderful month December was in The Farm Shop, lots of activities happened, but now that we are open again after our Christmas break we are ready to roll on and do more exciting things here on the farm.
Last October we launched our activity barn with the help of John and Francis Brennan from RTÉ’s “At Your Service” along with the 500 people that turned up on the day… Thank you all! It was a really great day; there were so many people here that the film crew came back to us the next day to take more shots of the place.
We now have the largest indoor beach here in Co.Wicklow and pedal tractor ride for kids, giant chess, draughts and traditional games for kids and lots more in the activity barn and the brilliant thing about the Sheep Shed Activity Barn is it’s indoors and you wont get wet…
We are looking forward to going on television; we just heard it is going to be aired on Sunday the 2nd of February.
It was a exciting experience for Philip, myself and the kids who also got a look in. Please look out for us and for all our overseas fans check out the RTÉ player and hopefully you will be able to see the shop.
We are now stocking up to 35 delicious farmhouse cheeses here at the shop, 50% Irish and the rest are from England and Europe.
We launched our cheeses with a interesting night of Cheese and Wine here at the shop, and thanks to Tom Burgess of Coolattin Cheddar and John Hempenstall from Wicklow Farm House cheese for coming and talking about their cheese.
A lot of Cheese was eaten on the night and that proved with our Christmas Cheese counter, people knew what types of cheese they liked.
We had a very enjoyable lead up to Christmas here a the shop, we kicked off the holiday season with the local ladies here in Tinahely, the TWN ladies had lunch with us all 43 of them…and the new ladies choir also sang some pretty carols to get everyone in the Christmas spirit and thanks to Pauline and Ingrid Sharpe from Molly’s Larder for putting on delicious food.
Santa even gave Mrs. Claus the day off to come and visit us here in Tinahely and told us great tales and stories about the great man himself, Santa.
Everyone was delighted with their afternoon and all left with a snow globe and Reindeer food…
Our next basket making day is Saturday 25th of January and there is a few places left, it’s a good day and you make your very own shopping basket, the cost of the day is €65.00 and this includes morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea and your materials.
My New Years resolution is to write our news letter each month, because there is so much happening here all the time and its fun and we like to share it with you.
We would like to congratulate one of our suppliers, Cathy Whitty, who is from here in Tinahely – she gave an excelent interview on Nationwide, well done to Yvonne and Cathy for scrumptious spelt products which are available here in the Farm Shop.
Don’t forget to watch ‘At your service” on Sunday the 2nd of February and if you have time to pop in we are still serving tea in China cups.
Until February newsletter, which is only around the counter…
