May at Tinahely FarmWell, the winter months seem to have disappeared and as I am writing this, my latest blog post, it’s wonderful to hear the birds singing in the garden.

It has been a busy few months since we were aired on RTÉ’s “At Your Service” with John and Francis Brennan, thank you to all have come to visit us so far and please do tell your friends to come and visit us here at The Farm Shop, or the kids to come and enjoy the activity barn in the sheep shed… Meet the new kid goats or help out bottle feeding the three pet lambs…

The Farm shop and activity is in full swing and we are delighted with the advertisement from the program and the brilliant feedback from you our wonderful loyal customers…

A big thank you from Philip and myself!

We had a very successful two weeks over the Easter holidays and there was great excitement when the first of the Easter chicks and ducklings started hatching… Oh, the excitement, we have a great array of small pekin hens and also 8 laying chicks which will join the laying hens.

Thanks to Kiltegan Friendship Group for coming down for lunch and they spent the afternoon here with us, a group of lovely ladies, they had a play in the barn, and thanks to one of the ladies who arrived with a dozen Polish hen eggs, we hatched Polish bantam chicks  in the incubator, they are very unusual looking poultry, they will be all black with white frizzy little heads.

Tinahely Farm ChickensThe animals are now all out on the walk way to be enjoyed, there is a charge now for the walk way, this fee helps us feed the animals and very importantly, it keeps them looking and living their best. This fee also includes the entry into the activity barn.

We have two more female kid goats joining the team here at the shop on the farm, two white ladies and they were reared in Shillelagh by Sam and have both fitted in well and are loving the fresh grass out in the paddock, they have just moved in with the three pet lambs and all seems to be well… They are called Bell and Beau, thanks to our FaceBook follower for naming Beau! They are so cute!

Over the next few months we are hoping to do some outdoor work in the area outside the shop. Perhaps a few more tables for you to enjoy and soak up the atmosphere…

We have started to do parties here in the activity barn and adults as well as children are having great fun! Table tennis competitions and lots more seem to be happening during the parties…

We love trying to improve and upgrade the shop, if you have any ideas or thoughts on the place please have a chat with us, we are always open and excited to hear someone else’s view on the place.

Farm Cafe

We have a large range of artisan food products now in the shop, a lot are Irish and our cheese counter is a real success in the area, people are delighted and amazed with the vast array of Irish cheese in the cheese counter.

We are still serving tea in delicate china tea cups and saucers, so please pop in and enjoy the wonderful and peaceful atmosphere in The Farm Shop.

See you at The Farm Shop,
Philip, Rebecca, Hannah, Harry and Archie
