We have had an exciting 2019 so far with the total re-build of our Children’s Activity Barn – and have added a boat and lighthouse to our indoor beach! Kids are having great fun filling the boat up with sand and emptying it out again.

Our pedal Go-Kart track got a major over haul as well. We painted the track and added bends and turns on the track so it now makes this makes driving it much more interesting. Also, our new Toilets are nearly finished, just  a bit of paint work and we are there. This is great because with the new entrance into the Children’s Play Barn you don’t have to leave building to visit the loo – which makes for a much safer, contained, play area.

Also, I would like to mention that entrance to the Activity Barn, from 1st July 2019,  will be €7.50 per child. There is no charge for adults.

It’s a busy time during the week for us, with school tours. We are delighted to be inviting back schools to see the new look barn and the new,  improved layout. There is never a dull moment here, every day something happens to improve the place. We enjoy making the improvements immensely but we also want to HEAR YOUR VIEWS on what can make our Farm even more interesting. If you have an idea that you feel has merit please do tell Philip at the counter. We love to hear from you and greatly appreciate the time and interest you take to help us improve.

The animals have all moved out to the Farm Walk Way and are very happy to be out on grass again. They are so friendly & are delighted to get a free pat and maybe a little bunch of freshly picked grass from the children.

Daffy our 30 year old pony is still with us and is happy also to be back out on the walkway, he is wonderful and the kindest animal in the land, and is so very special to us all. Our hens and ducks  are all doing well. They were doing a bit of wondering our side the gate lately, trying to find more slugs and snails. They wintered well this year. We still have an Indian runner duck who is gone very grey but she is now 9 years old, and sometimes can be seen when you come down the drive.

We have had beautiful lambs this year, and all doing well. Last week we got our sheep shorn and they are looking delightful. We have a mixture of breeds, anything from Jacobs to Soya sheep – from the northern Hebrides in Scotland – to Swarbles – so we have a lot of black lambs this time!

The cows are also out. The Highland cow who is called Charlotte is back in calf with a highland bull. Our pure bred Kerry calves also can be seen, the belted Galloways from South Western Scotland are also out on the walkway.

Our Tinahely Farm Kids birthday parties are a real hit. We now do food in animal party boxes – which comes with juice, a treat, a toy and crayons. The kids love it and the best part, after all this fun, is that you can go home to a clean house!

The Farm Shop is looking very well with lots of new products and we have a wonderful half-price section at the minute – lots of goodies for everyone. The Restaurant is serving tea still in a china cup and lots of new ideas on the menu.. Weekend breakfast has become a very big hit with us, Fabulous bacon from McCarthys in West Cork, Archie’s eggs and Drover sausages from Wexford.. You might even be lucky and get a duck egg or two! Our much loved Salmon Boards are back of the menu for the summer – so plenty of fresh, tasty food for everyone.

We hope to see you all soon at Tinahely Farm Shop & wish you a great June Bank Holiday weekend. With very best wishes from:-

Philip, Rebecca and our wonderful team at Tinahely Farm.
