flowersWell here I am at last – on the first very wet day in September… Wasn’t it a wonderful summer? Lovely long evenings and beautiful flowers seen to flourish in the hedgerows.

The Farm Shop has been very busy, keeping new and improved ideas in The Farmshop and some have walked way… You might have heard that we have been working with the Brennan Brothers, John and Francis of RTÉ “At your Service” fame and they have been keeping us on our toes, we have had to make a few changes to the shop, but not too many… We have new shelves made by John and Edgar in Bunclody and they are now packed with lots of new products and ideas.

John and Frances Brennan at Tinahely FarmAt the moment we are busy trying to launch our Family Fun Day at The Farm Shop… We are working on the sheep shed at the moment and are hoping to have all the work complete by October the 12th – well he have to, or else the Brennan boys will be here rapping our knuckles…. October 12th is a Saturday, so please but that date in your diary, Francis and John Brennan from “At Your Service” and RTÉ will be here filming and launching our Children’s activities in the barn from 2 pm… We have been busy putting in kids old fashioned games like coconuts, throw the ring on the hoop, chess, draughts and lots more…..as well as
an indoor beach.

There are lots more new products arriving into the shop all the time, we are delighted and so are so many people that Pat Lawlor’s Killbeggan Organic Porridge is back on the shelves… Pat’s product is now so in demand that he ran out of porridge which is wonderful for him, so it’s back in and flying off the shelves. And what more would you want to have for breakfast on a chilli morning…

basketmakingBasket making is still going as strong as ever at the shop, we have just had one class last week and the next class is on October 19th and November 16th. Heike, our basket maker, is wonderful at her job and has no problem to part with any information, a truly great teacher. If you would like to do any basket making you must book in and a deposit has to be paid to book a place. Please call Philip – 087 816 8457.

We are now serving home made soups and brown bread at the shop, as well as our smoked salmon board from Clarkes Fish Shop in Ballina and a selection of Irish cheeses, this is working well and people so far are enjoying having a bowl of freshly home made soup too.

So don’t forget to look up our events page and there are a few dates for your diary, and come and meet Francis and John Brennan on the 12th of October… In our next news letter there will be more dates for flower arranging demonstration.

If you are passing please do call in and enjoy our Farm Shop and have a cup of tea in a China cup…

Until next time!
Philip, Rebecca, Hannah, Harry and Archie
